The Nellie Rose—Whitman, Middleborough, & Freetown
Back in December 2015, Gabriella Costa and Scott Gould opened the original Nellie Rose in Whitman in honor of Gould’s great-great-grandmother, who had become a beloved figure in town. Over the course of the next decade, two more locations were opened in Freetown and Middleborough, each with its own distinctive theme.
The Whitman location, known as the Farm House, evokes that aesthetic with the brick and wood accents throughout the restaurant, complete with farm paraphernalia. The Middleborough restaurant uses brick and wood accents to mimic the atmosphere of a train station. It’s further decorated with conductor caps, railroad-crossing signs and lights, and even a functional model train to fully embrace the theme, hence the nickname The Train Station. The Freetown location, dubbed The Diner, embodies the feel of a 1950s diner with black-and-white-checkered tiles, red booths, and vintage license plates decorating the walls.
The Nellie Rose specializes in breakfast and lunch; it’s a great place to stop and fuel up for the day. Portuguese Breakfast Sandwiches, Bourbon Steak Tips & Eggs, Cranberry Walnut French Toast, Maryland Crab Cake Eggs Benedict, and a Pulled Pork Omelet are just a handful of the restaurant’s abundance of breakfast offerings to start your day off right.
If you would rather dine in for lunch, there are equally enticing options for the afternoon, like a Philly Steak & Cheese Melt, Footlong Hot Dog, or Mushroom Swiss Burger.
