By Brendan Martin Coyne.
Stellwagen Beer Company first opened its doors in the summer of 2018 and has been brewing innovative ales and lagers on the premises ever since. Brothers Mike and Dave Snowdale, originally from Cohasset, wanted to open a brewery that was community-focused and had a link to their New England roots. Growing up fishing and lobstering, with a deep appreciation for the ocean and the region’s natural resources, they settled on the name Stellwagen Beer Company, as an ode to the largest marine and whale sanctuary on the east coast: Stellwagen Bank.
Stellwagen recently released a new beer in collaboration with Foodies South Shore, a New England lifestyle, travel, and food blog. (Full disclosure: I am a co-founder of Foodies South Shore and a one-time Stellwagen employee.) The new offering, called Coastal Villages, is a tribute to all the quaint villages and seaside towns that make up the coast of southeastern Massachusetts. It also has several bright hop additions, resulting in a juicy New England style that will remind you of the tropics, spring flowers, and warmer days ahead.
Pop into Stellwagen for a Coastal Villages IPA beer on tap. I promise, you won’t be disappointed.
