On Jan. 1, 2024, South Shore’s beloved Italian institution Mamma Mia’s launched nearly two months of special events and promotions to celebrate its 50th anniversary.

KINGSTON, Mass. — On January 1, 2024, Viscariello Hospitality Group kicked off “50 Days of Mamma Mia’s,” nearly two months of special events, giveaways, and exclusive online and in-restaurant promotions for the 50th anniversary of the group’s first restaurant in 1974.

“For 50 years our family has been honored to offer a place for our friends and neighbors to gather and enjoy each other’s company while sharing our favorite family dishes,” said Gina Viscariello Albanese, Principal for VHG and daughter of founding brother Pasquale “Pat” Viscariello. “We’re beyond grateful to the community that embraced us and invited us to be a part of their lives, from special occasions to everyday meals, and we’re looking forward to 50 days of fun and celebration with our extended Mamma Mia’s family,”

As part of the celebration, guests are invited to participate in several anniversary activities to celebrate five decades of family, community, and delicious homestyle Italian cooking, ranging from a kids’ coloring contest to social media trivia to raffles to a “time capsule” guest book for diners to share their favorite memories growing up with Mamma Mia’s.

The celebration will also include multiple in-person events, including a paint night on Jan. 10. and trivia night on Jan. 17. And on January 24th, the day of the anniversary, all locations will celebrate with an anniversary extravaganza, including 50% off select menu items, giveaways, and the chance to connect with the Mamma Mia’s friends and family.

Because of the Viscariello family and company’s commitment to service, there will also be charity opportunities, including a volunteer day on Feb. 6 to prepare meal bags for End Hunger New England and a Lasagna Love match on Feb. 7, where the company will donate one meal to a South Shore family in need for each lasagna purchased at any Mamma Mia’s location.

“When our parents moved to the U.S. with dreams of opening a restaurant, they never imagined we’d be here 50 years later with a full hospitality group of eight restaurants and three brands, operated by their children and grandchildren,” said Tony Viscariello, Principal for VHG and son of founding brother Giovanni “John” Viscariello. “We’re so proud to carry on their legacy and could never have done it without the support and friendships of our guests. We look forward to sharing this celebration with everyone to thank them for being a part of the Mamma Mia’s journey.”
