Visit in the summer, and there’s a line out the door of people grabbing sandwiches on the way to the beach. In the winter months, you’re more likely to see area workers and residents stopping in for comfort food, from pot roast wraps and meatball sandwiches to three or four hot soups that change daily.
Well-known for their scratch-made bread selection, Acorn Canning Company displays “Jelly, Jams, Pies and Pickles” on their sign, but have expanded the menu by leaps and bounds since opening six years ago. In fact, you won’t find jams and jellies anymore, but you will find freshly baked pies that typically sell out each day. Stop in, grab a coffee and some lunch to go, and say hello to owner Monica Fletcher, who’s likely snapping a selfie or two with her day’s creations for Facebook fans.
