For those who inhabit or visit the South Shore and are looking for an authentic and comfortable experience from abroad, Shelly’s Tea Rooms will undoubtedly satisfy those needs. Brightly lit, clean, and well-decorated, the space is certainly modeled to induce a calming effect on guests. The design features incorporated into the space are classic elements of English culture. From the cherry-red telephone booth at the entrance to the photographs of Queen Elizabeth and King Charles posted on the walls, customers are sure to feel as though they are having tea at a shop in the center of London. Visitors can expect a charming and attentive staff, who raise the bar for service standards. Business owners Shelly and Sean Sinclair can often be found inside the shop working alongside their two children, Charlotte and Thomas. Not to mention, their docile Golden Retriever, Buddy, who roams around quietly and may say hi to friendly customers!
Shelly’s Tea Rooms offers an experience unlike others in the United States. The “Windsor Afternoon Tea For Two” will definitely encourage guests to feel as though they are truly having afternoon tea at Windsor Palace. Customers who choose this option can expect to start with an iced house hibiscus tea–a very refreshing introduction to the following courses. While sipping on the floral iced tea, an extensive menu lists hot tea options that will be brewed and served by staff in due time.
While decisions are being made, a mix of crustless finger sandwiches will be brought to the table. These will be happily replenished upon request. Like clockwork, a tray showcasing a selection of traditional scones, peach scones, classic English pastries, clotted cream, and strawberry preserves will be delivered to the table. The staff is likely to explain the selections, giving a small summary of each item on the tray. This way, guests are able to learn about common English tea traditions whilst enjoying them for themselves. The Windsor Tea for Two can easily curb the hunger of both participants; if this is the case leftovers can be packaged and brought home for later.
Guests will likely feel compelled to begin their own tea time traditions at home after experiencing the delight of Shelly’s Tea Rooms. Luckily, the business carries a vast selection of tea accessories, tea bags, and tea brewing equipment for any inspired company. Much of the merchandise is inspired by iconic English symbols– Union Jack dish towels, tiaras, English police hats, tea timers, kettle night lamps, double-decker bus and King’s Guard salt & pepper shakers, and more. On your way to the till, be sure to pick up your own afternoon tea supplies to recreate the Shelly’s Tea Room experience at home!
