A contemporary American Tavern situated in historic Norwell Center.
A photoblog of our visit.
The entrance to the Cheever Tavern is on West Street. (Note: our GPS took us to Main Street.)
John Cheever’s headstone (May 27, 1912 – June 18, 1982) as seen from the restaurant’s porch. John Cheever was a well-known American novelist and short story writer.
First Parish Church as seen from the restaurant’s driveway entrance.
Cocktails on the porch to start.
Lobster Roll and fries at Cheever Tavern, Norwell MA.
Lobster roll made with local lobster. Affogato: Espresso Martini with Hornsta Farm’s Ice Cream. Stellwagen Beer Company’s IPA, Cape Traffic.
Even more fun: while you are in the area take a quick walk at Norris Reservation before or after your meal. Then – because we are always thinking about our next meal – visit Bo-Tes Imported Foods for local and international specialty items as well as staples like bread, beer, wine, and an expansive deli.
Wine is food; spray cheese is not. Butter’s good; margarine is just yellow gunk. Soil beats strip malls; food gardens are preferable to lawns; farmers, chefs, and artisans are our heroes.
