Cranberry Hoisin

Cranberry Hoisin

  • Cranberry Sauce
    • 1 cup rice wine
    • 1 QT cranberries
    • 2 T honey
    • 1 cup brown sugar
    • ½ cup tamari/soy
    • 1 T 5 spice
    • 1 cup xianxing wine/sherry
    • ½ cup black vinegar
  1. Combine all ingredients in sauce pot. Bring to boil and reduce by over half. Should be thick enough to coat and cling to spoon.
  • Hoisin
    • ⅓ cup dark brown sugar
    • 2 T water
    • 3 T black bean sauce (such as Kee Kum Lee)
    • 2 T tamari/soy
    • 1 T rice wine vinegar
    • 1 cup cranberry sauce (from above)
    • ½ t sesame oil
    • ½ t 5 spice
    • Hot sauce to taste
  1. Combine all ingredients in a sauce pot. Heat to just combine.
  2. Blend or food process until smooth.
  3. Chill and store

 

Serving suggestion: mix into ground pork and serve over rice.
