Shovel Town Brewery, located in the historic section of Easton, is a microbrewery dedicated to high-quality lagers and ales. It is housed within the historic Ames Shovel Works, a 19th-century iron shovel-manufacturing complex. Shovel Town opened its doors in 2017 and is going strong into its seventh year. A sister location called Station One, located in a renovated fire station in the center of Foxboro, followed a few years later.
The Easton location offers a locally sourced, in-season food menu (based on the availability of seasonal ingredients), including flatbreads, sandwiches, tater-tots, and pretzels. The Foxboro location offers a full-scale kitchen with a craft distillery, craft winery, mixed drinks (with all spirits made in-house), and incredible steaks! Come to either location, experience the history, and enjoy some of the beers—including the one below—that are a result of community collaborations and local partnerships.
Stonehill 75 (Wheat Beer, 5.5% ABV)
On its surface, this beer looks like a collaboration with a local college for family weekend; but as you peel back the layers, underneath, there is something much deeper that strikes a chord on an emotional level. Stonehill College, in Easton, has been a contributing, integral, and valuable member of the community for 75 years. Educating the next generation, bringing in economic support for the town and small businesses, and promoting excellence. This weekend, crack open a Stonehill 75th and think about the institutions in your area that positively impact your community, and have been doing so for many years.
