Simple Syrup:

You can replace mulberries with other seasonal fruits for a variety of different summer sodas. Add a splash of alcohol if so desired.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup of mulberries
  • Juice of one lemon

Instructions
 

  • Combine all of the ingredients and cook in a saucepan of choice over medium heat.
  • Stir occasionally, until sugar is dissolved.
  • Strain the syrup, cool before pouring into a glass jar or bottle and refrigerate for up to one week.
  • Combine with soda, seltzer, or mineral water to make a fresh summer soda.
  • Garnish with berries, or any of the citrus fruits. Enjoy!
  • Makes enough syrup for about 12 to 16 drinks, with or without alcohol, to taste.
