Catherine D’Amato, President and CEO, Greater Boston Food Bank, presented Weymouth Food Pantry with the prestigious 2023 Community Partner of the Year.

For two decades, GBFB has been giving awards to its partners who support their work. This year, Catherine D’Amato, President and CEO, Greater Boston Food Bank, presented Weymouth Food Pantry with the prestigious 2023 Community Partner of the Year. This award was accepted by Pam Denholm, Executive Director, on behalf of our Weymouth Food Pantry volunteers and generous neighbors who help make Weymouth a place where we take care of neighbors who are struggling.

The award is in recognition of the commitment and creativity that makes the Weymouth Food Pantry leaders in its field. Pop-Up Pantries allow us to reach people where they are, forge strong community partnerships, and be flexible (like switching to drive-through during COVID). Our home delivery program serves neighbors who are homebound through illness, age, or disability, and the weekend backpack program ensures that school-aged children have their nutrition needs met and can focus at school. Our open-access garden provides fresh, healthy produce for all, and shares a farm-to-plate food culture not always available to people struggling to make ends meet.

Collaboration is our strength. We work alongside partners, agencies, businesses, and the government, to serve those in need. This is all made possible because of YOU. Congratulations to our dedicated volunteers, community partners, and contributors. This award is for all of us, just as the Weymouth Food Pantry is “here for all of us”!

The award will be on display at community partners over the next few months:

Crossroads Worship Center June 29th-July 13th
Tufts Library July 14th-July 27th
Old South Union Church July 28th-August 11th
Weymouth Town Hall TBD
Weymouth Elder Services TBD
