Another inspiring initiative is Sharing the Harvest, a division of the YMCA/Southcoast that began in 2006 as a nonprofit, volunteer-driven 5-acre community farm in Dartmouth. Their primary goal is to help alleviate hunger while building a community through volunteerism. Since its inception, Sharing the Harvest has accrued over 85,896 volunteer hours, welcomed 25,000 visits to the farm, and delivered well over 822,433 pounds of food to those in need.

The farm also offers agricultural education for second and third graders, providing classroom presentations on seeds and farming, and hands-on opportunities for students to plant their own seeds. This is followed by farm visits where students tour the fields, visit a frog pond, and sample herbs and veggies.
