Who Knew…

En route to the Cape in the old days, you went to an old motel cabin on “turkey row” to pick up your holiday bird.

By Pamela Denholm.

They moved the motel cabin up the street and badda-bing-badda-boom—the Bongiornos were in business. Here we are, 80 years later, and Bongi’s Turkey Roost is a time-tested, much-loved, family-run shop and landmark on Rte. 53. This local treasure just got a facelift. With the roost-reno completed earlier this year, Bongi’s is at full flap ahead of turkey season. You’ll love the bigger parking lot, bright, open space, and new displays. You can now even peek into the back kitchen to see the staff peeling potatoes and cooking turkeys. The best part, though, is they continue to serve all the Bongiorno family recipes we’ve come to love.

Familiar faces and new spaces at the time-tested, much-loved, family-run landmark and local treasure.
